HOUSE POLICY
Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism

The Broken Hill Legion Club is committed to combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism by:-
  • Opposing the crimes of money laundering and terrorist financing and do not tolerate the use of our products and services for either of these purposes.
  • Not tolerating the use of the Club’s premises for the use or supply of  illicit drugs and trafficking of stolen goods.
  • Reporting actual or suspected criminal activity to the police.
  • Reporting any activity that we detect which falls within the scope of the AML/CTF Act to the AUSTRAC CEO.
  • Seeking to provide our products and services only for legitimate purposes to customers whose identities we have been able to reasonably ascertain.
  • Seeking to avoid relationships with those that we reasonably assess as posing an unacceptable risk of money laundering or terrorist financing, and we will assess the viability of maintaining ongoing relationships with customers that fit this criteria.
  • Not tolerating behaviours that compromise our Club’s compliance with AML/CTF legislation.
  • Assigning staff with clear AML/CTF responsibilities, relevant to their respective roles and areas, as appropriate.
  • Staff trained to understand and fulfil their obligations under the AML/CTF legislation and our AML/CTF Program.
  • Monitor, measure and report compliance with our AML/CTF Program, and take corrective actions as necessary; and

Manage changes to our products, business processes and systems to ensure that money laundering and terrorist financing risks are identified and managed.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

The Broken Hill Legion Club is committed to the safe and responsible service of alcohol and does not:-

  1. Encourage excessive drinking.
  2. Encourage rapid drinking.
  3. Provide free drinks other than one free birthday drink.
  4. Serve alcohol to drunk people.
  5. Serve alcohol to disorderly people.
  6. Serve alcohol to persons under the age of 18 years.
  7. Permit people to buy alcohol for persons under the age of 18 years.
  8. Serve drinks in non standard measures.
  9. Serve shooters, slammers or jaga bombs etc.
  10. Serve double nips of spirits.

We care for our customers by supplying :-

  1. Drinking water free of charge.
  2. Non alcoholic drinks
  3. Food with drinks.
  4. Safe travel advice.
  5. A congenial social atmosphere.
  6. Members and guests safety at all times.
  7. Alcohol self exclusion program.
  8. Designated driver program.

Responsible Conduct of Gambling

The Broken Hill Legion Club is committed to the Responsible Conduct of Gambling and does not:-

  1. Encourage excessive gambling.
  2. Provide free or discounted drinks other than one free birthday drink.
  3. Provide Gaming Credits.
  4. Permit persons under the age of 18 years to gamble.
  5. Provide cash advances to patrons.
  6. Cash cheques.
  7. Allow cash withdrawals using a credit card through EFTPOS or ATM facilities.

We care for our patrons by supplying :-

  1. Established link with Lifeline, a local approved gambling counselling service.
  2. Gambling self-exclusion program.
  3. Strictest confidentiality policy.
  4. Staff trained in responsible gaming procedures.
  5. Providing a pleasant and safe gambling environment.
  6. Self help signage placed in prominent positions.
  7. Player Activity Statements available upon request.
  8. ATM located outside of gaming area.
  9. Adhering to all legislative requirements.
  10. Wall clocks visible from all poker machines.
